I earned a doctorate degree from Georgia State University College of Law and a bachelor's degree in English Composition and Rhetoric from University of Georgia. I have a certificate in Interdisciplinary Writing. Most of my English coursework was concentrated in composition and rhetoric. My academic success did not come to me easily. I had to work very hard and teach myself how to succeed, and I enjoy helping my students to do the same. Instead of giving my students answers, I prefer to challenge them to think in new and exciting ways. I feel my job as a tutor is to guide students and help them to think on their own. I love getting to know students and working with their interests. I am able to assist students in all aspects of English from reading comprehension, grammar, and essay writing, to editing and research. I also work with students on SAT test prep for the reading and writing portions and AP English placement testing. I have tutored in the subjects of essay writing, literature, study skills and organization, and saxophone. When I'm not teaching, I like rowing, rock climbing, weightlifting, watching movies, hanging out with friends, comics, and graphic novels.
